"Let Me Tell You a Story..." A Passion for the Next Generation
I started this blog sometime ago, but as life became busier, I neglected it and have not kept up with it. I have recently began thinking about it again as the Lord has impressed upon my heart to make it more of a priority. Last evening that desire became stronger as I heard an impactful message from a seasoned man of God entitled - "Let Me Tell You as Story," from Psalm 78.
"Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth."
As I sat and listened to Dr. Roger Green so eloquently exhort us from the truth of the Word of God to be serious about passing on a love of God and truth to another generation, I was convicted about a number of things. First and foremost I am to pass truth on to my children, and hopefully one day their children. And secondly I desire to encourage and challenge the young adults in our church, and community, and any one I come in contact with, to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and spend time in His Word and walk with Him.
I read in my Bible this morning these sad words...
"He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not." - John 1:10, 11
This is speaking of course of when Jesus walked on earth, and His own people not recognizing and receiving Him rightly as Messiah. I think also of this sad verse...
"And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which He had done for Israel." - Judges 2:10
The Jews in the book of John refused to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. The Jews in the book of Judges forgot their God, and neglected to pass on to their children, and their children's children, and thus fell into fellowship with the pagans. I look around today, and I see a generation that has forgotten and neglected to pass on the truth of God's Word to another generation coming behind them. May God help us. I hope in the days ahead this simple blog can be an encouragement to you and other young adults as you perhaps will share it with them.
May we be serious about walking with God and sharing the hope of the Gospel with others.
