A Heart for Heaven
"But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city."
Hebrews 11:16
"Will that matter in eternity?" I can remember my momma asking me that question many times while growing up. This question would most likely come during a time in which I would be spending too much time following sports, watching T.V., or entertaining myself in some other way. Now, don't get me wrong, it is fine to relax and entertain oneself, but that can be done in excess - which is wrong. I think everyone gets caught up with things like this in this life, and everything that we are involved with too much at times. We have to remind ourselves - "This world is not my home... I'm just a-passin' through!" I love sports, but watching and following sports for hours on end is not going to affect eternity. I love watching movies, but that isn't going to change eternity. I love outdoor activities, but even that isn't going to impact eternity.
What does impact eternity and Heaven? Our concern and reaching of souls, and our service to our God. Remember that we aren't going to dwell on this earth forever, and souls are dying and entering eternity every second of every day.
So what should we do? Enjoy life. Make the most of time spent with family. Spread the Good News of the Gospel to others. Serve God. Love others. Live for Eternity.
"Inside my heart there burns a question;
What was I placed on earth here for?
It truly was to build a kingdom,
Not of my own but of the Lord's.
What was I placed on earth here for?
It truly was to build a kingdom,
Not of my own but of the Lord's.
I want my life to count for Jesus,
For earthly things will quickly fade.
No need to add to worldly riches,
I only seek eternal gain."
For earthly things will quickly fade.
No need to add to worldly riches,
I only seek eternal gain."
