Then what...
We get asked that question many times throughout our life. "Ok, you are finishing high school, then what?" "Oh, you are about to graduate college, then what?" "Thinking about Retirement? Then what..." The Bible tells us in Psalm 90 that "we spend our years as a tale that is told." And once that tale, or story is concluded, then what... In James 4 the Word of God illustrates the days of our life as a "vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." Just as the steam rises and quickly disappears from your coffee mug as you sit on your back porch on a cool fall morning, so our life quickly comes and goes, and then what...
Life is busy, I get it. It is important to work and provide for your family. It is important to spend time with your family. It is important that you do recreational things to rest your mind and body. But the realization must be that all of that will come to a close shortly, and then what...
Have you ever taken time from your busy life to ponder the "Then what..." When your life concludes, where will you be? The Bible tells us that this is narrowed down to only two options; Heaven or Hell. And because of the sinful nature that we are born with, the default setting is Hell. But I'm thankful it doesn't have to stay that way! I'm overjoyed today to tell you that God has made a way when your "Then what" begins that you can be in Heaven with Him for all eternity!
First - there is a PROBLEM. You are a sinner. Romans chapter 3 tells us that "there is none righteous, no, not one," and "all have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God." And because of this sin, Romans 6 says, "the wages of sin is death." The Bible goes on to say in Revelation chapter 20, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
Second - there is a PLAN. Oh, I'm thankful there is a plan! That "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." All we have to do is confess our sins, ask the Lord to forgive us, and put our faith in Jesus Christ to save us. It's that simple.
Third - there is a PERSON. That person is Jesus Christ. He is the one that saves us and offers a home in Heaven for all eternity.
Fourth - there is a PLACE. That wonderful place called Heaven. A place where we can dwell with God, and He with us, for all eternity.
So, what about your "then what...?" Where will you be when your life is over? If you have any questions concerning your future home, or are not certain about your "then what," please reach out - I'd love to help you.
