I Believe God
"And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by be this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I BELIEVE GOD, that it shall be even as it was told me."
- Acts 27:22-25
Anxiety, stress, depression - all of these are very real things and are spoken of, and displayed more than ever in our world today. And it's a small wonder, with a decreasing amount of those with an authentic walk with God, and more to worry about in our world. Every time you open up a news app or turn on your television, there's wars here, and sickness there, deaths in the way of murders and suicides, and much more. There's an ever increasing anti-Christian sentiment growing in our world, as the homosexual movement is being shoved down our throat, and the abortion war continues.
On a personal level, you and I have our own struggles and burdens. If prices keep rising - how will we be able to provide for our families? As the culture keeps becoming more and more evil, how can we raise godly, decent kids that desire to serve the Lord?
Do you ever feel like the folks on the ship with Paul in verse 20 that said, "all hope that we should be saved was then taken away"? I don't know about you, but I could do without hearing the word "cancer" for the rest of my life. I could do without hearing of another father being tragically taken from his family. I could do without hearing of any tragic things happening to a large group of people in a public venue.
As much as I wish these things will end, I do have hope in the fact that they will one day be no more. I will say with Paul, "I believe God!" I serve the same God as Paul, and just as Paul could say he belonged to Him, I too belong to Christ and He belongs to me! I believe God! He is still on the throne and will be forevermore! I BELIEVE GOD! He is in control.
