Have you met with your God?
"I met God in the morning
When the day was at it's best,
And His presence came like glory
Of the sunrise in my breast
All day long the Presence lingered,
All day long He stayed with me,
And we sailed in perfect calmness
O're a very troubled sea.
Other ships were blown and battered,
Other ships were sore distressed,
But the winds that seemed to drive them,
Brought to us a peace and rest.
Then I thought of other mornings,
with a keen remorse of mind,
When I too, had loosed the moorings
With the Presence left behind.
And I think I know the secret,
Learned from many a troubled way;
You must seek God in the morning,
If you want Him through the day."
- Ralph Cushman
Did you spend time with your God this morning? Have you had that time in His presence? This time is so important to our lives, and our relationship with our Creator. I don't know about you, but many times I look at older, seasoned saints of God with a thriving, vibrant walk with God, and wish I had that. Well, we can! And we must! An older man that lived in my hometown, Frazier, was many times seen in the morning hours walking up the mountain side to get alone in prayer with his God. As the old-timers called it, he would pray-through. He was seen, with a neighborhood dog at his side, walking up this hill day after day, going to seek God's face.
Someone has said, "Do not see the face of any man until you have first seen the face of God." In Psalms 5, King David said, "My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." What does this time with God look like you may ask. It is reading His Word, lifting your voice to Him in prayer; frankly, it is spending time with Him as a friend would with another friend. So I ask you again, did you spend time with your Friend today? You need to, and besides that, He desires to be with you. Young adult and teen, if we are going to see our generation reached with the Gospel and turn to Christ, we must be right with God and spend time with Him ourselves. Go spend time with your God today!
